"OSHA APPROVED" People call me and ask what that means.  Frankly, it doesn't mean an OSHA person tested this item.  In fact, OSHA will tell you they don't test or approve products.  But they do recognize standards as set by others, American National Standards Institute, Underwriters Laboratories and so on...so in reality if a man lift basket manufacturer conforms to certain "standards" set by others - if any such standards have been established - they kind of take a leap of faith and say OSHA "approved". Now, all forklifts with attachments SHOULD have the attachment noted on their data plates.  But a personnel basket is hardly in the same class as a rotating paper clamp or carton clamp.  So forklift manufacturers will not certify the use of these with their trucks, because they are not "integral" parts of the forklift.  If you call up a forklift manufacturer and ask about rating the truck to pick one up, they will tell you, invariably, you can't use it. It's all about liability.  It falls to you to buy it and use it cautiously.  As to strength...they are all made from 1.5" or 2" steel tube and plate decking and welded and have a place for personnel lanyards to attach. Can it hold up 1 or 2 men doing some light work in the ceiling?  Sure! Should you lift a 150,000 BTU Steam Heater unit balanced on the hand railing with two men in the basket to hang it on rods?  ABSOLUTELY NOT! OSHA DOCUMENT IN .PDF FORMAT FOR CRANE OPERATIONS

LOAD CAPACITY of YOUR machine.  Your forks must be at least 42" long to use this device.  Conventional forklifts have load center on 24", the center of ANY pallet used with this device will extend ITS center beyond 24" (deck is 20" deep all by itself).  For a safety factor, we believe the center of any pallet on this platform will have a load center of no LESS than 48 inches.  EXAMPLE:  4000 lb. capacity forklift with load center at 24" (see your mandatory data plate) will have a 2000 lb. capacity when load center becomes 48", less the weight of the platform 300 lbs. and the user 180 lbs.  Final forklift assumed capacity 1500 lbs.
